Q. What was your motivation to start running?

A. I love both the solitude and social aspect, running in places I would usually not go to, but mainly the physical and mental challenges running poses.

 

Q. How long have you been running?

A. Since I could walk...lol. Did some track in school, but only started road running for a club in 1998.

 

Q. What is the highlight of your running career?

A.Completing my 10th Two Oceans Ultra this year.

 

Q. Which distance do you best enjoy running?

A.42.2km, just enough to challenge your body and mind.

 

Q. What type of training do you do?

A. Mixed bag of gym, cycling and road running. Very little mileage though.

 

Q. What is the biggest challenge to your training?

A. Laziness and lack of discipline.

 

Q. What is the one item you must have during any race?

A. Toilet paper....cos when you gotta go.....you gotta go!!!

 

Q. What is the best running advice that has been given to you?

A. Listen to your body, run according to how your body feels.

 

Q. Do you run through the winter months?

A. Not much. Like bears and similar mammals, I focus on my "winter coat" of fat reserves. Whereas they use it to store energy for hibernation in winter, I use it for the long races in the coming summer months....
